As students strive for global certifications like the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), their study environments must mirror international standards of professionalism. 1:1 Design Studio by Prashil Modi, in collaboration with Krunal Mistry Studio, has redefined this spatial identity through the transformation of Yates Education in Ahmedabad.
A Holistic Academic Ecosystem
Spanning a generous 6,500 sq. ft., the design moves beyond the “coaching center” cliché. Recognizing that ACCA aspirants often spend 8 to 12 hours a day on-site, we developed a “Full-Day” experience. The layout features specialized micro-environments tailored to different cognitive needs:
Focused Classrooms: Sound-optimized zones for intensive lectures.
Library & Study Areas: Quiet sanctuaries designed for deep work and digital research.
Collaborative Pods: Dedicated rooms for tutor-led doubt-solving sessions.
Student Pantry: A vital space for relaxation to ensure a sustainable academic lifestyle.
Strategic Zoning and Circulation
Our design philosophy for Yates Education centered on Strategic Zoning. By bifurcating the floor plate into a high-energy Student Zone and a private Faculty Zone, we ensured that high-traffic movement never disrupts administrative discipline.
The heart of the project is the Circulation Spine. This wide central passage features a striking grid ceiling with embedded linear lighting. This “runway” effect provides a rhythmic visual guide, handling heavy student footfall while creating a cohesive brand identity across the vast 6,500 sq. ft. premises.
Refined Aesthetics for Global Professionals
The material palette reflects intentional restraint. We utilized neutral tones to foster a sense of calm, vital for high-stress exam preparation. In student areas, bright accent colors facilitate wayfinding and inject youthful energy. For executive spaces and the MD’s cabin, the finishes shift toward a sophisticated corporate aesthetic, emphasizing the professional hierarchy inherent in the finance world.
